Eleven High School Teams competed in our Inaugural Tri-State High School Team Tournament, held on Geist Reservoir featuring Teams from Indiana, Illinois and Ohio. This was an opportunity for high school Anglers to experience the Major League Fishing Format which includes real time scoring, penalties and no limit as to scorable fish being caught (scorable bass must be 12 inches or more).

Conditions: The day was mostly sunny, winds 8 – 15 mph out of the south, water temperature low 70s. The day was broken up into three two-hour periods. The lake was zoned each period so Anglers were tested to find fish in on different parts of the lake. Period 1 the Anglers were limited to fish the area between 96th street bridge to the dam. Period 2 for the 96th bridge to the Olio Road bridge and period 3 we open the are beyond the Olio Road bridge to 96th street.

Resuts: A total of 164 scorable bass caught with a total weight of 267lbs 5ozs. This was a day of numbers with the bite lasting all day. All the Teams caught fish and made it to the leaderboard however the Team of Jaret Wampner/Austin Barr of Tipton High School coach by Hink Hinkle ran away from the field catching 32 bass weighing 54lbs 15ozs finishing in first place. The Team of River Jones / Scott Sledge coached by Matt Jones representing Western High School Russiaville, IN and Greenwood High School Greenwood, IN finished in second place with 24 bass weighing 41lbs 07ozs which include the largest bass of the day at 4lbs 3ozs. Jordan Gibbs / Hunter Fillmore coached by Rodney Gibbs the furthest traveling Team representing Springboro High School Springboro, Ohio finished in third place with 19 bass weighing 34lbs 4ozs.

Penalties: All eleven Teams were accessed penalties during the event with most being fish handling and two life vest penalties.
