June 17, 2017, Clear Fork Reservoir, Mansfield OH

Four High School Teams competed in our Inaugural Ohio High School Team Tournament, held on Clear Fork Reservoir. This was an opportunity for high school Anglers to experience the Major League Fishing Format which includes real time scoring, penalties and no limit as to scorable fish being caught (scorable bass must be 12 inches or more).

Conditions: The day was mostly sunny, winds 8 – 15 mph out of the southeast, water temperature low 70s. Due to an 8mph maximum boat speed on the lake we broke the day into two three hour periods.

Resuts: All teams caught fish and made it to the leaderboard however the team of Ryan Gwinner representing Marion Harding and Grant Toney home schooled figured out early this format is a numbers game and post 17 scorable bass for a total weight of 27lbs 04ozs finishing in first place. Ryan and Grant also posted the largest bass 5lbs 04ozs. Second place went to Colten Yost and Evan Barker representing Galion High School with 7 fish weighing 17lbs which included a 5lb 03oz bass.

Other teams represented are Jordan Gibbs representing Springboro and Hunter Fillmore representing Waynesville High Schools finishing in third place with 11lbs 01oz and in fourth place Jr Wolf and Aaron Stewart represent Galion High School with 9lbs 03ozs.

Penalties: All four Teams were accessed penalties during the event with most being fish handling and one life vest penalty.

Special thanks to the Boat Captains/Officials: Rodney Gibbs, John Thomas, Tony Stewart and Jason Gwinner.
